Curriculum Planning, Management, & Document Cam

Self Start 7:30-8:00

  1. Start and log into your computer
  2. Open the internet and go to:
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Granger
  4. Turn on your ipod
  5. Click on You Tube app
  6. Search for "Education Today & Tomorrow"
  7. After watching video click on the discussion tab above.
  8. Click on the "Education Today & Tomorrow" discussion link
  9. Sign in using: User name: grangerischool
Password: 622ischool
    • Answer the questions by typing a reply to the message. (You will need to be logged into wikispaces and may need to scroll down to see the reply form.)


  • Create a playlist by going to "File" and "New Playlist"
  • Name your Playlist
  • Find the videos you would like in the playlist and either drag and drop them into your playlist or right click on the video and choose "Add to Playlist"

Opening - Amazing App Race 8:00- 9:00

  • Open Google Earth app. If you do not have this app download it then open it.
  • click on the "i" on the bottom right corner
  • Click sign in: Use our Granger Ischool account:
    • user name:
    • password:
    • this takes you to My Maps
    • click on The Amazing App Race
    • click done
    • On your Touch go to the Apps store and search for the app and download it.
    • Complete the task with the app before moving on to the next location.

Google Earth 9:00-9:30

Google Earth is a resource that can be used in all subject areas.
Google Lit Trips

To find KMZ files already created go to the Google Earth site and look in Communities and the Gallary. When you search type in the topic you want and KMZ to find KMZ files.

How to use Google Earth and Maps
You can use KMZ files right on the iPod Touch.
  • Create and save your KMZ file to your computer.
  • Log in to Google and go to maps
  • Go to "My Maps"
  • Choose "Create a Map"
  • Give it a name and import your KMZ file
  • On the Touch go to Google Earth
  • Click on the "i" in the bottom right corner
  • Enter your login information for your Google account
  • Your maps will show up under "My Maps"
  • You can then find your locations from either the list or the placemarks in Google Earth

Safari Bookmarks 9:30-9:45
  • To create a book mark in Safari go to the page you want to bookmark
  • click on the plus sign in the middle at the bottom
  • You will be given the choice to create a bookmark or an icon on the Touch
  • To retrieve bookmarks click on the book icon at the bottom of the screen

Save images, Slideshow and Captions 9:45-10:45
  • To save a screenshot hold down the home button and the power button at the same time
  • Your screen shot will be saved in your photo album
  • To create a slide show download slideshow builder lite or pay version (pay version has more options)
  • Click the plus sign at the bottom of the screen
  • Name your slide show and make any other choices you may want and click "Done" in the top right corner
  • Click the plus sign again to add photos from your saved photos album
  • Click the arrow next to each slide to add a caption etc.
  • Click the play arrow to play the slideshow
  • You can add captions to your photos in speech bubbles before you create your slide show by using an App called Photo Captions Free
  • Open the App and choose the start with "Saved Photos"
  • Choose the photo you will be adding a caption to
  • Choose your speech bubble and type your caption
  • Click the save button on the bottom right and your edited picture will be saved to your photo album

Quizlet 10:45-11:15
  • Sign up for an account and confirm in your email
    • or use username: grangerischool
    • password: 622ischool
  • Create your own quizzes or search for ones already made (Utah Language Arts Core - Join Group)
  • On the Touch use the Flashcard Touch App for students to take quizzes (Free during the month of March)
    • When using Flashcard Touch to find stacks:
      • Browse for more
      • search -- magnifying glass on top right corner
      • search by creator (grangerischool) all cards sets will come up.
      • import the one you want
  • They can browse by category or search for your quizzes by name

Management and Policies 11:15-11:30

As a group we need to come up with management policies. Some questions we need to think about are:
  • How are you going to train students on the basics of the iPod Touch?
  • How are you going to encourage self-directed learning?
  • What procedures will you use for checking out cart & checking out iPods to students?
  • What rules or guidelines should we follow?
  • How are we going to manage the scheduling of the carts? What is the time frame for using the carts? Sign up today?
  • Timeline for requesting apps?
  • How are we going to budget?
What other things do we need to think about before using the cart with our students?
